A set of Celtic tunes and Playford's Dancing Master
Rachel Podger, arguably the leading British exponent of early music, will be playing a programme of 17th and 18th Century music for solo violin - both familiar and perhaps new to us. Her performances bring a richness of colour and an attention to rhythm that is both lively and sensual.
She was the first woman to be awarded the prestigious Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Prize in 2015 and was Gramophone Artist of the Year in 2018. An active collaborator, she was one of the Artists in Residence at the Wigmore Hall in the 2019-2020 season. She performs for us music from her recent CD.
