There are a few changes to our previosly brochure advertised programme. We now have two really beautiful sonatas by Scriabin, one dark and complex as its Black Mass title suggests, the other light and pastoral with sunlight on rippling waters, dark thunderfilled clouds and spatterng rain The other change is Liszt's 3 Petrarch Sonnets.270, a more elegiac, leisurely and pensive work which contrasts strongly with the intense Scriabin.
There is a strong Russian presence in the concert with Rachmaninov, Scriabin and a wonderful piano transcription of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite by Mikhail Pletnev.. Anna also takes a look at the Hungarian, Franz Liszt and the Japanese Toru Takemitzu
