Quartetto di Cremona

Haydn

Quartet No.77 0p.1 in G major

W A Mozart

Quartet No.22 in B flat major K589

L van Beethoven

Quartet in E flat Op.127

Renowned throughout the world from their concerts in
Australia, China, Japan, USA , in Germany and all over
Europe including many appearances at Wigmore Hall, they
are of course heralded in their home country as one of
Italy’s finest quartets. When they came to Kelso two years
ago we felt the Cremonas were just about the best quartet
we had ever heard. Hence we asked them to return.
They have recently recorded all the Beethoven quartets
and they will be playing Op.127 which is the first of the
great quartets that Beethoven wrote at the end of his life.
We have had three of the last five in recent years but this
one has never been to Kelso.

The Quartetto di Cremona exude phenomenal energy and momentum, making their interpretation of Op.95 particularly compelling.

Dynamic contouring was as sleek and elegant as an Armani suit, and it tailored the music to perfection.

THE Gower Festival has hosted many fine quartets over the years, including such luminaries as the Belcea, the Skampa and the Wihan, but I don't remember ever being more impressed than by the remarkable Quartetto di Cremona. From the opening bars of a Haydn quartet their playing was so simple, so clean, crisp and sparkling, that you just knew you were in safe hands.
